Cheryl Scott’s POUR FOR MOORE

May 31, 2013   //   by brigit   //   Events, Get Involved, News  //  No Comments

As we all know, tornadoes have been ravaging our country over the past few weeks. Luckily, however, organizations like the American Red Cross are working fervently to repair, protect, and restore countless cities and families in the tornado zone.

But they cannot do it alone.

Cheryl Scott of NBC and the Chicago Cubs have partnered to launch POUR FOR MOORE, a happy hour event to support tornado disaster relief! The event will be held Friday, May 31st at American Junkie located at 15 W. Illinois from 6pm-8pm.

Cheryl Scott's POUR FOR MOORE

ALL proceeds directly benefit the American Red Cross!

For only $15 per person, you’re invited to enjoy passed appetizers and complimentary Bacardi cocktails served by celebrity Cubs bartenders -the reigning Chicago baseball champions!

Additionally, ALL proceeds directly benefit The American Red Cross. If you cannot make the event tonight, you can still donate to the cause HERE, as tornadoes continue to strike our country.

Join us TONIGHT as we share the love with our industry friends who were affected in the wake of Sandy in NYC.

We’ve teamed up with Wirtz Beverage, the Hard Rock Hotel, and FACTOR Models to host this special event! Drinks are kindly donated by Tito’s Vodka with music appearances from Chicago’s own DJ Madrid and The Lovehammers who will be playing a cool acoustic set at 10pm. While there will be no charge to attend, 100% of all tips and donations will go to City Harvest, a NYC-based non-profit that feeds the homeless (in part from collecting food from NYC restaurants). We thought this was a great way to “Shift Some Help” to where it is needed the most.

Access is limited so RSVP HERE to ensure you’re on our list for complementary Tito’s Vodka cocktails. Cocktail attire suggested.

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

*Save $10 and get your tickets before 3PM: http://bit.ly/C4Lspring

Tonight let’s celebrate Charity4LIFE’s successful missions to Nicaragua, Haiti and raise awareness about new partnerships! The upstairs at LUXBAR (18 E Bellevue in the Gold Coast) will be packed with Chicago’s top business professionals enjoying a hosted bar and bites from 6 – 9pm.  ”After five attire appropriate” so leave those jeans at home while you have a cocktail with others that have made philanthropy a priority.

Also, please consider a small donation to the cause.  Donations are given to NGO’s in other countries that are on the ground helping street children directly.  This is what Charity4LIFE does… they find worthy causes in other countries that are having an impact, and after a visit to see progress first hand, they receive critical funds (your donation) to make sure their programs are able to reach more kids. Pretty cool if you ask me!

So grab your tickets HERE and see you tonight :)

BBF was founded by Joseph Kellman in 1961 to provide the community’s children with a safe alternative to the streets. BBF is rooted in one community, but its impact is incredibly broad. Over 50 years of service, BBF has provided thousands of young people with the educational, social, cultural, and recreational resources necessary to achieve success in school, in their careers, and their personal lives.

A Day at the Races

May 5, 2011   //   by Cameron   //   Big Brothers Big Sisters, Events, Get Involved, News, Non Profits  //  No Comments

A Day at the Races

If you know me really well, you may have heard of my idea to match up every student in the entire Chicago Public School system with a mentor that will stick with them until they graduate college. I know, I know, that would be a lot of work… but no one ever told me not to think so ‘big’ (plus, I wouldn’t listen anyway). There are groups that are working toward this goal and vision right now and one of the best out there is the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS). They are making a measurable impact in our community, just look at the power of having a Big Brother or Big Sister! Kids mentored by BBBS involved are:

  • 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
  • 27% less likely to begin using alcohol
  • 52% less likely to skip school
  • 37% less likely to skip a class
  • more confident of their performance in schoolwork
  • one-third less likely to hit someone
  • getting along better with their families

So this Saturday at 2pm, in support of this cause, we’re hosting a fun Kentucky Derby themed event that will include plenty of Mint Juleps, Derby-tinis, wine, beer and southern cuisine (the food is by ZED451, so your know it will be amazing!!!!).

We’ll have sweet things to bid on too… like hotel get aways, spa packages and sports paraphernalia — and wear your finest Derby hat!

Tickets are $75 per person or $250 for a group of four. Purchase yours at http://2011derbyday.kintera.org or at the door.

All proceeds further the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago and help provide at-risk Chicago youth with caring adult mentors.

Zed451 is located at 739 N Clark and event runs from 2:00 to 5:30pm.

Questions? Either contact me or Jessica Rechtien at rechtien@bbbschgo.org or 312.207.5604. See you there!
